Choosing to study Religion for my Leaving Certificate was one of the best decisions I've ever made in life. It has eased my eyes open to the world and made me realise that there is more than just what we are told to believe as children.
What I really liked learning about Philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, Aristotle etc., was that what I had learned from their questions and answers to the meaning of life had given me enough of what I needed to form my own questions and form my own answers.
Life is not just x,y,z. It's not just black and white. There are questions we would like answered but some of these questions cannot be answered.
According to my religion teacher, he believes that us human beings like things to be definite. Unfortunately for us, life is full of mystery and uncertainty. Just because something is definite for you, may not be definite for someone else, e.g one's faith.
As frustrating as it may be not being able to find definite answers, we form our own. If given definite answers, there would be no wonder and life would not be as wonderful as it is. (I'm not saying that life isn't a bitch sometimes, it is, but nonetheless)
Life is there for living, so just live. Find your own answers to your own questions along the way, nobody is going to tell you that you're wrong. Just like nobody is going to tell you the answers.
